Ingredients:
● 300g Basmati rice
● 450 ml water
● 1/2 tsp Nivartana Blue Butterfly Pea Powder
● 8g salt
● 1 cardamom pod
● Garnish: toasted cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds (optional)
Instructions:
- Wash the rice: Rinse the Basmati rice thoroughly under cold water to remove any excess starch.
- Add water and spices: Place the washed rice in a pot. Add the water, Nivartana Blue Butterfly Pea Powder, and salt. Crack open the cardamom pod and add the seeds (or the whole pod if you prefer a stronger flavor) to the water. Stir well to ensure the powder and salt are evenly distributed.
- Cook the rice: Bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat. When the water has reduced by half, stir the rice again, cover the pot, and lower the heat further to level 2 or 3. If using a rice cooker, you don't need to monitor the heat – the rice cooker will do this for you.
- Cooking time: Let the rice simmer for about 30 minutes until all the water is absorbed and the rice is soft. If the rice is not fully cooked, you can add a little more water and continue cooking until the rice reaches your desired consistency.
- Resting time: After cooking, let the rice rest for a few minutes. This helps firm up the texture and enhances the flavor.
- Garnish: Before serving, garnish the rice with toasted cashews, peanuts, and pumpkin seeds (optional).
